Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra (UKF) is a medium-sized public university established in 1992 as the University of Education in Nitra, which became a successor of the Pedagogic Institute (founded in 1959) and the Faculty of Education. Currently, it has 5 faculties with 10,000 students, offering bachelor's, master's and PhD study programs in education, humanities, and social and health sciences, natural sciences. All the programs are accredited and offered as full-time and part-time studies. Some of them are tailor-made, reflecting the demands of the labour market. The university degree system has fully incorporated the principles of the Bologna Declaration and ECTS. It has more than 60-year experience with training future primary and secondary school teachers in pedagogy and subject methodologies and is also involved in continuous professional development of teachers. UKF emphasises international cooperation in all fields of study and research. International cooperation in education and science of UKF has been developed through international projects and programmes such as former TEMPUS, ERASMUS MUNDUS and LLP projects, ongoing CEEPUS programme, IVF projects, ERASMUS+ programme, EEA Scholarship Programme of Slovakia, former 6th & 7th Framework Programme (currently under the new programme HORIZON2020). Bilateral Agreements of Academic Cooperation define the framework and basis for creative cooperation of UKF departments with institutions abroad in the field of common research work, exchange of students and staff, exchange of scientific works, common publishing and scientific activities, events or curricula development for Joint/Double Degrees. UKF also closely cooperates with foreign institutions and embassies located in Slovakia (British Council, Goethe Institute, French Cultural Centre, Fulbright Commission) as well as with national research institutes of the Slovak Academy of Sciences and many enterprises.

The University of Badji Mokhtar-Annaba (UBMA) is an Algerian public institution of higher education and scientific research created in 1975. Being in constant evolution, it is currently structured into 8 faculties over 4 university campuses in the city of Annaba. UBMA has mainly been a centre of competitiveness in science and technology. However, it has recently given much importance to teaching and research in the arts, the humanities, and the social sciences. It has more than 43,000 graduate and post-graduate students supervised by more than 4,000 teachers in 41 departments and 96 research laboratories, making it one of the largest Algerian universities. It is considered a centre of multidisciplinary education that is deeply rooted in its socio-economic environment. It continually works to establish itself as an actor in local development while claiming a strong international ambition. It is a member of international academic organisations and consortia like UNIMED, AUF, TETHYS, LAFEF, CEMUR, etc. It also participates in a number of international research projects like Erasmus Plus, PHC Maghreb, PRIMA, etc.

Partium Christian University was the first accredited Hungarian language higher education institution in post–1959 Romania, founded after the political changes in 1989. Partium Christian University functions on the basis of Law No.1/2011 of the Romanian Constitution and of other normative acts from the field of higher education. It is a legal entity of public benefit with private status and an integral part of the national education system. The mission and objectives of Partium Christian University are of a professional-didactic, scientific, cultural-educational, social and academic professional cooperation nature. The scope of PCU is to educate and train higher education intellectuals and specialists, competitive at home and abroad, within a mother-tongue-based education system in accordance with the highest educational and research requirements. In its mission, the University is committed to enacting the following principles and options: providing higher education in Hungarian as well as in Romanian, English and German languages and asserting Christian values; disseminating professional and modern public knowledge in accordance with the European standards; efficient promotion of scientific research and wide distribution of its results; the guarantee of training specialists to satisfy the regional needs; the continuous improvement and modernisation of the teaching methods and educational process, the openness towards new ideas and updated scientific knowledge; the cultivation of democratic values, of interculturality, the assertion of cultural and identitary pluralism, the development of critical and innovative models of thinking and of civic attitudes among students; the development of academic cooperation with similar universities and research institutions from Romania, Europe and other continents.

Eszterházy Károly Catholic University (formerly Eszterházy Károly University) is a university situated in Northern Hungary. It offers a wide range of programmes in the fields of Arts and Humanities, Pedagogy, Natural Sciences, Economic and Social Sciences, Information Technology, with teacher training as its oldest tradition. The teaching and research staff of the university is around 350 and serves about 6,500 students. The Language Pedagogy Centre, operating within the Department of English and American Studies, forms the core of language education and EFL methodology instruction. In addition to its involvement in the regular training programmes of the department it provides mentor programmes for in-service teachers and serves as a centre for the network of schools in the region in the field of EFL instruction. As of now, the Language Pedagogy Centre involves 5 members of the Department and reaches out to all those students who are enrolled in the English Studies B.A. programme and the Teacher of English as a Foreign Language M.Ed. programmes, approximately 400 students across all years.

The University of West Bohemia (UWB) is the only public institution of higher education based in the Pilsen Region. At present, the University has nine faculties consisting of more than sixty departments and three institutes of higher education. More than 12,000 students studying at the University can choose from a wide of range of undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral study programs (i.e. a full-time, part-time or combined form of study). The educational activities at the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen also include life-long learning programs for the general public through lectures, courses and comprehensive training programs, including the popular Third-Age University. In addition to its educational activities, the University is also an important centre of Research and Development, with massive investment in university development and construction activities on the University campus (i.e. the University campus is currently undergoing very dynamic changes – with an annexe to the University Library building, new buildings of the European Centre of Excellence NTIS and the Centre of Technical and Natural Science Education and Research). This is also one of the reasons why UWB scientists involved in various disciplines, as well as UWB students, win prestigious awards for their activities every year.

High Schools

Gymnazium Myjava provides general secondary education and prepares students for studying at university. Currently, we have 365 students aged 12-20 studying at three departments – 8-year, 4-year and 5-year English bilingual. Our staff is represented by 51 persons, out of which 31 are teachers. The school has been involved in many international projects within the Comenius programme since the very beginning, and four other projects have been realised successfully within the Erasmus+ programme since 2007. Many students successfully participate in DOFE – The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award. Our students also participate in many international competitions, such as iBobor – the international mathematical and IT competition or Best in English – the international English language competition. Our focus is primarily on the intellectual needs of students; however, we try to develop their physical abilities as well. Students can attend various extra-curricular activities, for example, ski courses, football, floorball, badminton or volleyball lessons. We organise traditional Christmas floorball or spring volleyball matches. The school gym is equipped with a climbing wall constructed by professional climbers. Many students continue their studies at universities all around the world.

The first records of “Gymnázium Golianova” go back to 1919. Since then, it has proven to be a successful institution in preparing its students for real life and the present-day demanding job market. The school currently provides education for more than 750 students and employs over 50 teachers and 22 members of the non-teaching staff. It also offers conversation lessons taught by two lecturers from Canada whose sessions are attended online. Active cooperation with a school psychologist has also been beneficial on multiple occasions, helping students with both academic and emotional well-being. The school consists of three forms of study: a 5-year bilingual study (for learners aged 15-20), a 4-year study (aged 15-19) and an 8-year study (aged 11-19). All of the aforementioned types emphasise preparing students for further university studies and achieving a high level of proficiency in foreign languages, especially English. At the end of the 5-year bilingual study, students reach the CEFR level C1 in English, studying 5 subjects in this language – Mathematics, Chemistry, Informatics, Civics and Art. Our school intends to support students in participating in extracurricular activities, projects, competitions, and volunteerism and provides them with the methodological aid and support needed to achieve their goals.

Evanjelická spojená škola comprises the Slovak-English Bilingual Grammar School and Evangelical Elementary School. The main focus of the educational process is on developing the key competencies and education in accordance with Christian values, democracy and humanism. In the area of education, emphasis is laid on the quality of English language education, with the use of innovative approaches and modern trends. The main aim of the school is to prepare our students for their studies at bilingual grammar schools and universities in Slovakia and EU countries. Evanjelická spojená škola, Evanjelické gymnázium Juraja Tranovského, offers a unique Slovak–English bilingual 5 and 8-year study programme, highly valued in the north Slovakia region, with approximately 450 enrolled bilingual students and 56 teachers. Apart from the bilingual programme, our school is also focused on economics and teaching foreign languages in the 4-year programme for 80 students.

Our organisation is the secondary grammar school Gymnázium Andreja Kmeťa in Banská Štiavnica, Slovakia. The students are 14-19 years old, and their CEFR scale is B2 to C1 proficiency for older students. Gymnázium Andreja Kmeťa, in its current state, offers two forms of study – a four-year Slovak section and a five-year bilingual English section with 10 classes. We have 37 teachers, 406 learners and 9 non-teaching staff. In the main fields of the provided studying programme, there are subjects from the humanities that are close in many topics, aims, and teaching attitudes. We teach history, literature, drama, art & culture, geography and civics in English, and we have a team of young, experienced and motivated teachers. All the teachers of the bilingual section create their teaching material in English on their own, with no support of material or methodology officially published, according to the valid Slovak curriculum and syllabus.
