Overall, our dissemination strategy was guided by one central aim: to reach people who can use the project outcomes in real teaching and learning situations.
We prioritised teachers and students first, subsequently expanding to wider education communities capable of multiplying the results. We aimed to connect dissemination with exploitation, sharing outputs in ways that support concrete reuse, testing, and long-term access.
KEY CHANNELS:
- Staff meetings and classroom activities
- Institutional websites and social media
- Local and regional media (newspapers)
- National, EU, and International conferences
1. INTERNAL DISSEMINATION
To ensure the project did not remain limited to core teams, we integrated dissemination into the daily life of our partner institutions.
AT THE UNIVERSITY LEVEL:
Universities focused on training future teachers and institutionalising the project’s methodology.
- Curriculum Integration: Elements of new lesson plans were integrated into regular university courses (specifically language development and methodology). This ensures that the approach is transferred to schools by future teachers.
- Institutional Reporting: Updates were presented at Departmental, Institute, and Faculty Council meetings (e.g., at Partium Christian University and Eszterházy Károly Catholic University).
- Digital Announcements: Targeted presentations and university-wide digital announcements were used to reach staff and students beyond the immediate project team.
AT THE SCHOOL LEVEL:
Internal dissemination was based on structured sharing, turning dissemination into an exchange rather than one-way reporting.
- Structured Meetings: Schools used staff meetings and dedicated subject group meetings (e.g., for Civics or English teachers) to present COIL sessions and teaching materials.
- Interactive Feedback: Colleagues were encouraged to ask questions and explore how outputs could be integrated into other school practices.
- Documentation: Gymnázium Myjava and Gymnázia Andreja Kmeťa v Banskej Štiavnici included annual project summaries in official school documentation.
- Future Planning: Evanjelická spojená škola v Liptovskom Mikuláši is planning a methodical meeting to provide hands-on guidance on using project coursebooks and the Action-Oriented Approach.
2. LOCAL AND REGIONAL IMPACT
We utilised visible, accessible channels to reach parents, community members, and local stakeholders outside of academic networks.
DIGITAL & ONLINE PRESENCE:
Websites and social media were key channels for making outcomes tangible.
- Gymnázium Myjava: Created a permanent website section linking to FOSTIN coursebooks (Civic Education, History, Literature, Art). Published updates on workshops (e.g., “Workshop Komiksy”) featuring photos of student work.
- Gymnázium, Golianova 68, Nitra: Published articles summarising objectives and highlighting cross-border cooperation, supported by social media sharing to spark community interest.
- University Channels: Eszterházy Károly Catholic University and Univerzita Hradec Králové used departmental websites to report on meetings and COIL sessions regularly.
MEDIA OUTREACH:
Partners published articles in regional and county newspapers to reach non-academic audiences.
- Kopaničiar Expres and MY Trenčín (via Gymnázium Myjava).
- Štiavnické noviny (via Gymnázia Andreja Kmeťa v Banskej Štiavnici).
REGIONAL WORKSHOP:
On 25 May 2023, Gymnázia Andreja Kmeťa v Banskej Štiavnici organised the workshop “Model Activities on the Subject Regional History and Education,” which demonstrated how the town of Banská Štiavnica can serve as a microhistory model. The event provided teachers with clear, adaptable frameworks for project-based and experiential learning, specifically illustrating how to utilize local UNESCO heritage and traditions to enhance educational practices.
3. EU-LEVEL DISSEMINATION
At the European level, we targeted Erasmus+ communities and mobility contacts, focusing on the transferability of our outputs.
PROFESSIONAL EXCHANGE & MOBILITY:
Dissemination occurred during Erasmus+ mobility events (e.g., in Barcelona, Sweden, Iceland) and network meetings.
Direct Sharing: Educators shared lesson plans directly with colleagues from other countries for immediate testing and implementation.
Network Collaboration: In June 2023, Partium Christian University presented FOSTIN to the Uninet project partners (including institutions from Wales, the Netherlands, Sweden, and Italy), placing outcomes within a wider European professional environment.
EUROPEAN CONFERENCES:
We presented outputs explicitly to academic audiences across Europe:
- Hradec Králové (March 2023): Presented on interdisciplinary competence and limitations of conventional SLA approaches.
- Networks 2023 & 2024 (Oradea/Debrecen): Presented the Action-Oriented Approach and an overview of newly developed teaching materials.
- EL&LE 2024 (Pannonia): Titus Pop presented a COIL initiative titled (Re)Adapting Genres: Myths, Literature, Music, and New Media.
- Pilsen (October 2025): Univerzita Hradec Králové focused on fostering intercultural communicative competence through COIL.
- Networks 2025: The team presented the digital coursebook: A Coursebook of Interdisciplinary Lessons Focusing on Civic Education.
4. INTERNATIONAL REACH
We targeted global audiences interested in sustainability and higher education change, proving that interdisciplinarity and inclusion are global concerns.
- On 7 February 2024, Badji Mokhtar–Annaba University (Algeria) facilitated the event “Collaborative Online International Learning for Sustainable Development Goals” at the 7th SDGs Conference hosted by the University of Bergen (Norway). During the session, Mária Hricková introduced the FOSTIN pedagogical model while Fella Benabed presented the first COIL cohort on SDGs. Crucially, a reflective session allowed students to discuss their learning, providing direct evidence of the project's impact on human agency.
- On 25 November 2025, Fella Benabed delivered a keynote plenary lecture titled “COIL and Action-Oriented Sustainability Education: Return on Experience from an Erasmus+ Project” at the SNPR 2025 National Symposium organized by Constantine 1 – Frères Mentouri University. The lecture framed the project outcomes as fully aligned with key Erasmus+ priorities, specifically digitalization, inclusion, internationalisation, and sustainability.
